Installing and upkeep instructions for wooden panelling

Storage of your wooden planks

Wooden panelling must be stored in a completely dry and humidity free environment. There must be insulation between the parquet and the floor and it must be stored in such a way as to avoid warping.

The amount of humidity in the air should be between 40% and 60% and the temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees centigrade.

Only open the packages immediately before installation and handle the planks with care.

Starting Work

The product has undergone rigorous controls at the factory. Therefore, if you find an abnormality on opening the packages on starting work, do not continue; you should report the problem immediately to your retailer. We would remind you that any product already installed is considered accepted by the customer and can under no circumstances be exchanged or reimbursed.

Twenty four hours before you start work, you should open the packages in the place where the work is to be carried out. This allows the product to adapt itself to the atmospheric conditions of the room.

As wood is a living material, you will find that each plank has different markings and colours. It is therefore advisable to open all the packages and mix up the planks to allow for these differences.

Installation conditions of wooden panelling

The laying of parquet or wooden flooring should be carried out after all other works such as painting, wallpapering and renders have been completed.

The room should be dry and the windows should be closed; the temperature should be between 15 and 30 degrees centigrade and the level of humidity between 40% and 60%

The support:

For all wooden panelling it is necessary to construct a preliminary wooden framework on which to fix it.
When doing this, the uprights and cross members must be perfectly vertical and horizontal and should be verified with a spirit level.

Ceiling cladding
When cladding a ceiling, the space between the elements of the backing structure must not exceed 40cm and the assembly should only be carried out using clips (no.3).

Wall and ceiling panelling laying

This can be done in one of three ways: nailing, stapling the inferior lip or placing clips (no.3) between the planks. These clips are strongly recommended.

It is advisable to leave a gap between the wood where ceilings meet walls. This allows for expansion and contraction. Adding a length of moulding will hide this gap.

Please Note

Installation of this panelling is not recommended in humid areas such as bathrooms, or walls showing signs of humidity. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for the consequences of this action.

Maintenance for wooden wall and ceiling panelling

The wooden panelling doesn’t require any specific maintenance. For damp maintenance with clear water, use a well wring out cloth.
